Kiddy Crickets is a mother daughter duo that was created to help neurodivergent families thrive in a happy home. We have discovered that it really does TAKE A VILLAGE to raise a child and we, as a neurodivergent community, have to work together to share information, tips, resources and anything that will make our home a happy place to be. As a neurodivergent family ourselves (ADHD & Autism) we decided that we need to share what we’ve learned to help other families who might be going through the same struggles. We also decided that we want to focus on sharing happiness as well as how to overcome obstacles. Happiness comes from many places AND is not always easy to find when you are working with some unexpected life obstacles \ud83d\ude42 As a family WE’VE LEARNED TECHNIQUES ourselves and how to work together to make all of our personalities mesh and create a happy home. It can be challenging to understand different minds but once we understand each other then we can work on how to MAXIMIZE STRENGTHS AND POTENTIAL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We would like all neurodivergent families to maximize happiness in the home so our kiddos can thrive! OUR GOAL is to empower kiddos and their families to be proud of their unique minds and traits so that they can use their strengths to have a happy, successful, independent and amazing life. We want our neurodivergent families to find their strengths and love who they are. When a home is filled with love, understanding and cooperation then the potential in all of our kiddos is limitless!<\/p>\n\n\n

\u00a0Back story: I worked in Kinder through college settings throughout my professional career. Prior to this I worked with neurodivergent kiddos for 6 years (Autism, Aspergers and ADHD) including my own brother who is severly autistic.\u00a0 I became a mom as I was getting my master’s degree in School Counseling. I had my daughter midway through my master’s program, and as she was developing I saw she was not hitting some developmental milestones as clear as they should have been. It was if it was meant to be that I was learning about the mind, behavior, disorders etc. while I had my daughter that also seemed to struggle with some things.\u00a0 I already had a background working with the Autism\/ADHD\/Aspergers community and knew that every mind learns at a different pace and in a different way, and now I had a daughter that seemed to learn differently as well. While extremely intelligent in many areas, I saw that my daughter struggled with verbal instructions, communication and had many sensory issues. Over time I had learned to manage, decrease and completely ELIMINATE symptoms with diet and desensitization methods to name a few. In 2nd grade she was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (inattentive type). Our family decided to focus on her strengths and highlight those through positive affirmations, exercise, diet and a variety of therapies (traditional and non traditional) while helping her through the tough areas in school and in life. The path that we were advised to go through (medication) was not what we wanted to do. We wanted to see if there might be ALTERNATIVE AND NATURAL ways that we can use to help our daughter function better and YES THERE WERE A TON OF WAYS! Many were “unique”, not well known,\u00a0 or were used for other disorders so we decided to just focus on one symptom at a time. We’ve discovered major strengths (memory, attention to detail, dance etc.) that we wanted to focus on.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The story goes on with some added symptoms of autism, but the moral of the story is that we have a huge spot in our hearts for the neurodivergent community and have learned through college courses, personal experience and research about how to support and help neurodivergent kiddos thrive. We’ve learned that EVERYONE’s mind is different. The strengths with in this community are immeasurable and we do not want them to go unnoticed. We need these minds in our world to think outside the box and create, invent and explore and PROVIDE A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE. We found out that this is the path we were meant to be on and this became OUR MISSION TO HELP FAMILIES LIKE OURS WHO NEED A STARTING POINT. Life doesn’t have to be a struggle, we can make our own amazing path because every child is fabulous. We finally found what our daughter’s strengths are and we are determined to help her be the best at what she loves by using her unique mind as a strength and to her benefit. With support, a positive mindset, the right supplements, therapies and diet we can help our families thrive!<\/p>\n
